Roadhouse/Candy Store/Ice Creamery
The Oatlands Roadhouse, Candy Store and Ice Creamery with associated cottage and outbuilding are prominently located on the corner of High & Wellington Streets, Oatlands. The original sandstone cottage (c. 1847), located at the rear of the Candy Store, was the first building on site. Two later additions have been added to the cottage to accommodate increased commercial use.The first addition adjoins the front of the original cottage and was thought to be the original Oatlands butchery that continued trading until 1867. This space is now occupied by the popular Candy Store and Ice Creamery.
The most recent addition to 47 High Street dates to 1897 and adjoins the Candy Store expanding the High Street frontage. This space is currently operating as the Oatlands Roadhouse. The Roadhouse cafe contains modern fixtures and fittings including, kitchen fit out, cold and dry storage spaces. At the rear of the property is the original two story sandstone barn.
